5 Things That Make The Skoda Kushaq The Benchmark In Its Segment

Based on the India-specific MQB-AO-IN platform, the new Skoda Kushaq is all set to conquer the Indian market with its striking design, luxury interiors, and mind-boggling performance.

The all-new Kushaq is the culmination of Skoda’s renewed focus in the Indian market. Under the INDIA 2.0 project, Skoda has developed this brand-new SUV which promises to redefine benchmarks in the mid-size SUV segment. Here’re the things that make the Skoda Kushaq a class apart: 

European Design

Staying true to the Vision IN concept, the production-ready Skoda Kushaq features a premium styling. Up front, the SUV gets a bold and prominent Skoda grille, flanked by a two-part headlamp design on either side. The heavily sculpted front bumper adds character thanks to the sharp profiling.

The side profile is pretty clean with a strong character line running across the length of the SUV. The rugged all-around body cladding, coupled with 17-inch alloys, adds a dash of sportiness to the SUV’s personality. At the rear, Skoda has used wraparound LED tail lamps that accentuate the overall width of the SUV. The addition of a faux diffuser and a roof spoiler is a nice touch and helps Kushaq connect to its siblings, the Karoq and Kodiaq. 

In terms of dimensions, the Kushaq measures 4,225mm in length, 1,760mm in width, and 1,612mm in height. The SUV gets a best-in-class wheelbase of 2,651mm and a respectable ground clearance of 188mm. The boot space is rated at 385-litre but it can be expanded to a cavernous 1,405-litre with a folded rear bench.

Interiors

Setting a new benchmark in quality, Skoda Kushaq offers premium interiors touches in a thoughtfully designed cabin. The quality of the material is top-notch and as with all Skoda cars, the fit and finish are hard to fault. In typical Skoda style, Kushaq offers plenty of cargo compartments with a total storage capacity of 26.2-litre. The seat comes with 60:40 split functionality. The rear bench is perfectly reclined and offers plenty of legroom, knee room, and thigh support. There’s enough headroom as well. 

Smart Technology

A 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, equipped with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, takes centre stage in the Skoda Kushaq. The unit offers a host of connectivity features under MySkoda Connect and delivers an exhilarating audio experience through the six-speaker sound system. Besides, Kushaq boasts of an electric sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charging, automatic climate control, smartphone pocket, Wi-Fi hotspot, keyless entry, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

Engine and Transmission

Skoda Kushaq comes with a choice of two turbocharged petrol (TSI) engines. The base model features a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI engine that puts out 110bhp, mated to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. The higher-spec models of the Kushaq, on the other hand, are powered by a bigger 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TSI motor that churns out 150bhp of max power. The transmission options are a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG unit. Both engines offer a perfect blend of powerful performance and superior fuel efficiency, besides delivering an unmatched driving experience.

Safety

Skoda Kushaq boasts of electronic stability control as standard across the range -- a first-in-class feature that signifies the high importance that Skoda attaches to the safety of occupants. This, coupled with up to six safety airbags and a multi-collision braking system, make the SUV one of the safest vehicles in its class.
