2011 Volkswagen Passat introduced at Paris Motor Show

Europe’s largest carmaker, Volkswagen is gradually refreshing its entire product portfolio. The company has just released the complete details of the next generation 2011 Volkswagen Passat at the Paris Motor Show. This model expresses the company’s new corporate design language in full force. The 2011 Volkswagen Passat has got a more mature design. Later this year when the Passat will be launched (at US) it will have a complete range of gasoline and diesel engines. There is a good possibility that Volkswagen will provide 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine which could be mated to a 6-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The four-motion all-wheel drive should be there on top-end models like in the earlier Passats.

The new Volkswagen Passat 2011 has got a totally new look which has been styled by Klaus Bischoff and Walter de Silva. The model flaunts clean surfaces as well as elegant and imposing stance. The front of this Volkswagen model features a new grille element along with prominent horizontal chrome fins. The car is also equipped with heavily contoured headlight units. A set of distinctive tail lights is further joined by chrome highlights which extend down the car’s side. Apart from the roof, each body panel is new. The all new Passat measures 4,769 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width and 1,474 mm in height. The new seats inside the seventh generation Passat can be specified for both heating and cooling their occupants. A massage function has also been provided for the front seat passenger and the driver as well. The  dashboard has also been revised with trim finishes, new dials and an analogue clock. The centre console of this car has also been upgraded.

The new Volkswagen Passat is powered by a range of highly efficient diesel and petrol engines. The petrol engine comprises a 1.4-litre TSI engine which develops 122 PS, a 1.8-litre TSI unit with 160 PS, a 2.0-litre TSI 210 PS engine and a range which tops 3.6-litre V6 producing 300 PS. The refined diesel range begins with the most efficient engine, the 1.6-litre TDI unit producing 105 PS. The new Passat is also equipped with a lot of safety technologies and also with many comfort technologies. These features were initially seen in in the Phaeton luxury model and the Touareg model. The model will also be available with the company’s XDS electronic differential. This system will lessen understeer and it will also improve the traction in slippery conditions. The new optional city emergency braking function is also there which automatically stops the model at speeds below 18 miles per hour when any collision is about to happen.
