1.4L Boosterjet is the second addition to Suzuki’s new family small turbo petrol motor, Boosterjet family debuted with the 1.0-liter engine at 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March
Suzuki has unveiled the new 1.4-liter Boosterjet engine at the on-going 2015 Shanghai Auto Show. The new 1.4l joins the earlier 1.0L Boosterjet that debuted with the iK-2 concept in the Swiss show. Boosterjet is Japanese automaker's new family of compact turbocharged direct injected petrol engines for the global market.
Suzuki went on to say that, China will be the first market where Suzuki launches the model installed with the BOOSTERJET before expanding it globally. It reminds me of - ‘debuted in China, China-exclusive, only-for-China,’ it’s now evident that ‘Land of Dragons’ is on top of every automobile manufacturer!
Now, back to the topic, just like any other small turbo banger, Suzuki was successful in reducing the size of the motor by incorporating exhaust port into the cylinder head and shortening the intake manifold. The fuel is directly injected into the cylinders with six-nozzle injectors. The engine extracts max power of 140 PS (103 KW) at 5,500 rpm and peak torque of 220 Nm, the twist starts building at 1700 rpm and maxes out at 4000 rpm. Speaking of India, the Geneva debuted 1.0-liter Boosterjet is expected in the country with the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YRA hatchback
