Suzuki has made the global debut of the India bound Suzuki iK-2 concept at the on-going 85th Geneva Motor Show. Maruti Suzuki has planned to launch this car in the country and is internally codenamed as YRA. Moreover, Suzuki confirms that the iK-2 will be launched in Europe by 2016, expect Indian launch soon after or maybe before!
Suzuki says that the iK-2 has a ‘Liquid Flow’ design theme, wait a minute - Is Suzuki subtly launching a design language with it? And why I’m getting a feeling that it is synonym with Hyundai’s Fluidic design philosophy, its arch rival! Well, looks like we have too see if any future products adopts this theme or not. Adding on the iK-2’s ‘Liquid Flow’, Suzuki says it is inspired by three keywords - “harmony,” “elegance,” and “energy wave”; featuring a low, wide silhouette. Moreover, the concept vehicle features flamboyant LED head and tailamps.
The hatchback will be powered by a newly developed 1.0-liter direct injected turbocharged petrol engine - Suzuki named it BoosterJet. And the Japanese automaker says that it is based on a new platform. With the new platform and downsized turbo engine, Suzuki promises excellent fuel efficiency and good performance.
