After launching the facelifted Hector in January 2021, MG Motor India is set to introduce a new mid-spec trim in the SUV’s lineup tomorrow. Called ‘Shine’, it will be positioned between the second-to-base Super and second-to-top Smart. We have now got our hands on its features, powertrains, and accessory details.
The Shine will get the same features as the Super along with the following extras: telescopic adjustment for the steering wheel, chrome outside door handles, push-button start/stop, electric parking brake, keyless entry using the smart key, and sunroof (new for Hector as it is not a panoramic unit). However, except for the sunroof, all other features are limited to the Shine CVT variant.
MG will offer a new Havana Grey paint option with all variants of the SUV, except for the base-spec Style. The Shine will also get its own accessories pack comprising leather seat covers, an air purifier, a wireless charger, 3D floor mats, leather wrap for the steering wheel, and window sunshades.

The MG Hector Shine will get both 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (143PS/250Nm) and 2-litre diesel engines (170PS/350Nm). A 6-speed manual will come as standard, and the turbo-petrol engine will also get an optional CVT. However, the petrol-hybrid setup and the DCT gearbox won’t feature on this new mid-spec trim.

We expect the Hector Shine to be priced at Rs 60,000 more than the Super. The Hector will continue to rival the Tata Harrier, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos.
