After an extensive testing and last minute updates, almost all the 18 OEMs participating in the Indian Auto Expo have finalized their new car models and concepts for one of the most renowned Auto exhibitions in the world. The popularity of the Indian Auto Expo has reached to an extent where the global luxury car manufacturers to the Indian auto makers are vying to be a part of this Auto Expo 2012. The British Luxury car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover creates headlines this season to take part in the Indian event over the simultaneously held Detroit Motor Show, the most acclaimed event in the continent of North America. Special focus will be laid on the aspects like greener environment and technologies and alternative fuel propulsion vehicles that include wide range of cars from electric cars to hybrid engine powered vehicles.
Let us have a look at what will these OEMs showcase in their respective pavillions. Maruti India(Hall 14): India’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki is expected to bring over 10 new cars and concepts for the Auto Expo. The most anticipated utility vehicle to mark its foray into the MPV segment, Maruti Ertiga will be up for a display at the Maruti India’s stall at the Expo. The new Maruti MPV is going to be a complete deviation from the Maruti’s SUVs, powered by a 1.4 L petrol engine and a 1.3 L 90 Bhp Multijet diesel engine to compete against Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo in the MPV segment. A new compact SUV concept, an MUV concept apart from the Japan bound Kei cars, Suzuki MR Wagon and Suzuki Palette, all new Maruti Swift Dzire and the new Maruti A-star among the others will be displayed at the Maruti India’s stall at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo.
Hyundai Motors(Hall 18): Hyundai India with the fame of being the second largest car manufacturer in the country has some interesting cars lined-up for the Auto Exhibition where the Hyundai HND-7, a compact MPV concept will be the key attraction for the season apart from the compact SUV concept which will also be displayed at its pavilion. Concepts apart, Hyundai India will bring the Veloster sports car, latest versions of the Hyundai i10, Hyundai i20, Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Tucson and Hyundai Avante for a proud display. A vast range of the Hyundai cars will be showcased by the Korean car manufacturer where the auto giant hopes to bring its recently founded interest in the electric cars as well.
Tata Motors(Hall 11): The domestic car manufacturer is exploring new areas of interests which is more than evident from the new Tata Pixel concept after its recent public acclaim at the Geneva Motor show. The extremely compact car with a 1.2 L petrol engine promises a phenomenal mileage of 35 kmpl which might subsequently prove to be an ideal small car for India. Tata Motors is expected to bring its new SUV based on the Tata Safari, the Tata Storm apart from the recently launched 2012 Tata Nano for the display to prove its unparalleled achievements in the passenger car segment. Tata Motors is another car manufacturer to join the league of hybrid and electric car manufacturers who will bring the Tata Manza hybrid car to join the rest of its line-up at the Auto Expo this season. The British subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover has announced to display two new concepts, the CX16, a two-door coupe and DC100 SUV.
Mahindra and Mahindra(Hall 11): The renowned utility vehicle manufacturer of the country, Mahindra and Mahindra has two new SUVs up for a launch from its recently acquired Korean subsidiary SsangYong, the Rexton and Korando E. One of the most anticipated cars of the season is the Mahindra Xylo Mini MPV based on the Mahindra Xylo platform which will be launched at a later date but will be up for a display at Expo. The compact MPV will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines to carry a 1.5 L Verito diesel engine with a price tag of Rs 5-7 lakh. The visitors can also find its parent model Mahindra Xylo facelift parked at the Mahindra pavilion at the Auto Expo. The show stopper from Mahindra and Mahindra will be the Mahindra NXR all-electric car which is basically much improvised version of the Revai car we see today.
General Motors(Lake Hanger): Ever since its foray into hatchback segment, General Motors India is more focused than ever before to make a splash in the hatchback segment. The Chevrolet Sail hatchback could be the car the Indian consumers are keeping their fingers crossed upon which will be offered with a 1.2 L petrol engine with the form factor like Chevrolet Beat in India. Another low cost MPV from GM India is expected to tap the growing interest in the MPV segment from its Chinese partner Wuling. The Wuling Sunshine/CN-100 MPV will be offered in both fuel options to occupy the berth in price range of Rs 3-5 lakh. The WTCC Cruze sports car will be a change from the Detroit-based car manufacturer apart from the facelift versions of the Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet Tavera.and brand new Chevrolet Sail sedan.
Skoda(Hall 10): Skoda, this season is trying its best to link its rally car lineage in every car it is bringing up for unveiling. Right from the Skoda Fabia inspired Skoda Fabia Scout crossover, a special edition car of the popular Monte Carlo, the all-black Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo and a RS 2000 sports car concept will be present at the Skoda stall at the Auto Expo. Peugeot Citroen(Hall 12A): The French car manufacturer is making an official debut in the country after ten years of absence in India with Peugeot 508 sedan and Peugeot 208 hatchback for a display at the Indian Auto Expo 2012 though the launch is slated for sometime later in the year. Renault( Hall 18): Synonymous as a sports car manufacturer, the French auto giant is gearing up to encroach the compact SUV segment with the Renault Duster, a potential competitor of Ford EcoSport. Renault Pulse, its first hatchback for the Indian car market is also slated for a launch at the renowned Auto Exhibition. A new Renault DeZir concept will also be showcased by the car manufacturer with exciting design lines which is also one of the cars to look forward to.
Honda Motors: Despite the unfavourable conditions at its key manufacturing unit in Thailand, the auto giant will display the new Honda CR-V with ample changes to carry superiors looks apart from its recent foray into diesel engine development will be showcased as a part of their accomplishments. Premier(Hall 10): All new version of the only SUV Premier Rio from the domestic car manufacturer with new BS IV compliant petrol and diesel engines with some spruced up interiors and exteriors will be displayed by the car manufacturer at the biggest Auto Expo in India. Nissan(Hall 18): After its successful stint in the country with the Nissan Micra and Nissan Sunny, the third product from the Japanese car manufacturer will be an MPV, Nissan NV200 with a sitting arrangement for 10 passengers onboard.
Toyota Motors(Lake Hanger): The world’s largest car manufacturer has an arresting ensemble of car models line-up for the season. The revamped versions of its flagship models Toyota Innova MPV, Toyota Camry sedan and 2012 Toyota Fortuner SUV will be the attractions for the Toyota India. Volkswagen(Lake Hanger): There is absolutely no going back with the German car manufacturers plans to bring the Volkswagen Up! for the display at the 2012 Auto Expo, where the new Volkswagen Beetle and a brand new Volkswagen Jetta petrol variant and a new concept Volkswagen XL1 can be spotted at the Volkswagen’s stall in the Auto Expo. BMW(Hall 9): The undeterred leader of the luxury car segment is set out to reach its ambitious plans to bring the Mini brand in India which will be seen at the BMW’s stall in hall number 5 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The Mini Cooper hatchback, Mini Cooper convertible and the Cooper Countryman SUV will be displayed at the Auto Show apart from the new BMW M5 sedan, BMW 7-series and a new concept BMW Vision Connected Drive.
Mercedes-Benz(Hall 15): The German OEM has its own share of interesting concepts and car models for the display to include the new Concept A and Mercedes-Benz AMG range of cars for the Auto Expo 2012. Audi( Hall 10): Overzealous with the growth in India in the year 2011 despite the slow car market, the German luxury car maker is passion-driven to topple BMW India with its new car line-up for 2012. The all new Audi A4 sedan, a hybrid version of the Audi A8 sedan, Audi A8 sportscar, Audi S6 sedan and Audi Q3 SUV will be the string of cars from Audi India to showcase at its slot reserved at the Auto Expo. Ferrari-Maserati (Outside hall 12 A): Shreyans Grup will showcase Maserati Quattroporte sports saloon, Ferrari FF and Ferrari 458 Italia. Ford( Lake Hanger):Ford will showcase EcoSport compact SUV and Ford Fiesta AT. Force Motors (Hall 7FGH): Pune based Force Motors will show 4WD Force One to display its off road capabilities at the Auto Expo 2012.
