The German luxury and sport car manufacturers are locking horns again – BMW launched the Audi RS7 competitor – the M6 Gran Coupe. Audi introduced RS7 few months back with a staggering price tag of Rs 1.29 crore. BMW drives-in the 6 Series Gran coupe with a 'M' badge (that speaks all) and with a price tag of Rs 1.75 crore. Both the vehicles are the high performance four door coupes. Lets do a quick comparison of two flagship models from both stables.
Speaking of the design, Audi RS7 offers typicaliy 'Sportback' profile with steep falling roof (similar design first introduced by Mustang in 60-70's). The Beemer, though a coupe but impart a three-box-sedan profile (inspite of having large hood and a coupe like roof). Apart from this, the BMW has regular twin-kidney and swept back headlamps similar to 6 Series, the only change is the meaner looking bumper with large air intakes. The Audi, on the other hand looks more sharper and furious – compared to M6 or the A7 on which the car is based on.
Mechanically, the Audi is pulled by a 4.0 liter TFSI punchy V8 with – cylinder on demand technology. The 3993cc twin turbo powerplant musters 560hp of exceptional power and whooping 700Nm of maximum torque. The M6's 4395cc twin-turbo heat gathers similar power of 560hp and torque of 680Nm (nearly 20 less). Both the cars are electronically limited to 250kmph but Audi is faster when it comes to standstill to 100kmph milestone; the BMW does it in 4.2 seconds while the RS7 reach in 3.9 seconds. The RS7 small displacement engine churns out more torque and similar power compared to M6 big block plus it also offers cylinder management system. The M6 is matted to a 7-speed auto box while Audi gets 8-Speed AT.
When it comes to sheer size, BMW measure 5011mm in length, 1393mm in height with a width of 2106mm while the Audi Stats are 5012mm in length, 2139 in width and 1419mm of height. The Beemer is more spacious inside with a wheelbase of 2964mm, Audi's wheelbase measures at 2918mm. The Audi offers five seating arrangement while the BMW offers only four seats.
