November began with a strong start, thanks to two new launches from Mercedes-Benz, while Volkswagen introduced yet another special edition of its SUV. As the week unfolded, Tata made a significant announcement for its future EVs, and in the same week, Skoda unveiled the new-generation version of one of its premium sedans. Volkswagen Taigun Trail Edition Launched
Showcased in early 2023, the off-road-focused 'Trail Edition' of the Volkswagen Taigun has now been launched in India. This special edition is based on the GT variant of the Taigun and is only available with the 6-speed manual transmission option. It features cosmetic updates inside and out, along with a new feature as well. We have also compared the Taigun Trail Edition with the Hyundai Creta Adventure Edition in a series of images.
Tata Partners With JLR For EV Development
Tata's electric subsidiary, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM), has announced a partnership with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to share EV platform technology. Tata will utilize JLR's Electrified Modular Architecture platform for the development of the Tata Avinya.
Mahindra Thar.e Patent Surfaced Online
The electric version of the Mahindra Thar, known as the Thar.e, was first showcased in South Africa on India's 77th Independence Day. Now, some patented images of the Mahindra Thar EV have surfaced on the internet, revealing a design similar to the concept.
Tata Motors Wins Singur Plant Case
After a long legal battle, Tata has finally won the Singur plant case and has been awarded a substantial sum by the West Bengal government. Tata's Singur plant was originally intended for the manufacturing of the Tata Nano, but disputes between Tata and the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Limited (WBIDC) prevented Tata from doing so.
Bharat NCAP Crash Tests To Start Soon
In August 2023, India's homegrown car crash testing facility, the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP), was announced. Earlier reports indicated it would begin on October 1, but recent reports have now stated that BNCAP will start crash testing India-specific cars from December.
