Chevrolet has launched the much awaited Trailblazer at a price tag of INR 26.40 lacs. The seven seater SUV is now the largest SUV in its segment and the most powerful too. We compare it with the segment leader Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
Exteriors
When it comes to size, nobody messes with the Trailblazer as it is the longest and the widest in the segment. Also the ground clearance stands at a massive 231 mm and is the segment best, though has limited usability as it is offered with only rear wheel arrangement. Trailblazer is the freshest offering in this lot and will definitely stand apart when moving on road.

Interior
The main highlight of the insides of Trailblazer is the MyLink infotainment system that is also the most advance media-nav unit of this segment. Also, the interior setup looks very fresh when compared to the other two as both Fortuner and Pajero Sport have been around for quite sometime and their interiors have started to appear dated. Moreover, with class leading exterior dimensions, there is lavish amount of space for first and second row passengers, however, the last row seating space is not very good but it is still better than that of the Fortuner and Pajero.
Under the Hood
When it comes to power and torque, Trailblazer is a no nonsense machine and Chevrolet has made sure that it gets enough horses to haul itself around with ease. The all-new 2.8 litre engine is very refined and is from the latest generation of GM engines. It generates segment best figures of 200 PS and 500 Nm of power and torque, respectively, leaving both its competitors way behind. Apart from this, Chevy gets a 6-speed automatic, that is one more cog than Pajero’s and Fortuner’s 5-speed unit.
The Downsides
For somebody looking for 4x4 SUV, Trailblazer will be a let down as it is only offered in 4x2 setup, while both Pajero and Fortuner are offered with 4x4 option. Apart from the 4x4 option, Toyota also offers the automatic option in 4x4 guise, whereas, Pajero only offers it in 4x2.
