Ford to Export Made in India Engines to Europe

The American auto giant, Ford Motor Company is planning to export the India-made engine to Europe and other marketplaces of the world, a company's official have informed about it as the company is working on to expand Indian production capacity. It will be the very first time that the firm will be exporting the engines manufactured in India, and as Ford has already announced that they will have the capacity to built 4,50,000 cars and 6 lakh engines in India by 2015. Currently Ford India exports about 40 % of its total engine production and 25 % of its cars to 35 countries.
Although company has not revealed the entire plan, but Gary Johnson, VP-Manufacturing, Asia Pacific and Africa clearly said, "From an engine perspective, we'll be exporting not just to Europe but also to Thailand," Previously as well Johnson told this to Reuters at a automotive conference held in Delhi, "If somewhere needs more engines and we've got the capability, then we're going to ship them," Speaking about the possibilities of exporting engines and cars from India, Michael Boneham, Ford India's president said, "Europe has got significant manufacturing capacity itself, So it's probably not that smart to go and ship cars out of India to Europe... For us it's probably more you look at the engines."
