General Motors aims at 30 per cent growth this year

General Motors India rolls out its auto mobiles under the brand name plate Chevrolet. The brand has well established itself, while the growth is being accelerated by its hatchback Chevrolet Beat and Chevrolet Spark which are paving company's way for greater heights. The American auto group has witnessed a 60 per cent hike in sales last year.
As per a report, GM has reported a growth target for 2011 to 30 per cent. It states that keeping the lower rate is because of the higher base line of last year followed by fresh newer launches then. It was reported that few cars are slated to be entering in 2012, for this year the company plans to launch fuel variants for its cars.
Karl Slym, President and Managing Director, GM India said that last year was progressive for the company due to new launches such as Chevrolet Beat, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Captiva and Chevrolet Spark did extremely well. The American auto company expects to double the growth figures.
The company observed a good growth in the Chinese auto market and with the company's Chinese partner SAIC, it visions to use this year for controlling its growing operations in India. It will include catering to a wider network as it will launch atleast 6 new cars with 14 fuel variants next year. The company is looking to ship atleast 10 per cent of its manufacturing from the new engine unit. It was also reported that a new press shop will be added to Halol unit as a part of Rs 700 crore investment.
General Motors has manufactured locally produced powertrain SMARTECH designed at the Bangalore Technical Center which is being used in Chevrolet Beat LPG and Chevrolet Spark. With the expansion of the product line, the company is also working towards expanding its human resources by adding 400 employees at its technical Centre which already employs 2000 employees.
