General Motors India has registered a growth of 13% in March 2012, compared to the corresponding period last year. It sold 10,588 vehicles in March 2012 as against 9,391 units in March 2011. The growth was primarily driven by the much sought after Chevrolet Beat and the Chevrolet Tavera.
While the Beat recorded its highest sales since its launch, the Tavera crossed the 2,000 mark again after 5 years. The March 2012 sales comprised of 5638 units of Beat, 2075 units of Tavera, 107 units of Aveo, 123 units of Optra, 44 units of Captiva, 722 units of Cruze and 1879 units of Spark.
Commenting on the performance, Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India, said: “The great demand for the Beat and Tavera has boosted our performance in March. The growth was primarily driven by India’s most fuel efficient vehicle, Chevrolet Beat Diesel. While the Tavera has performed phenomenally, we hope the new Chevrolet Tavera Neo 3 BS IV, launched recently in 13 cities, will further strengthen the performance. Our vehicles demonstrate our commitment to fully leverage our resources in India to offer customers new products that meet their unique needs.
