Gujarat Coming Forth as Global Hub for Automotive Sector says Narendra Modi

Sanand, Gujarat has emerged as the ‘Motor City’ of the country and consequently the state of Gujarat has become a global hub for the entire automotive industry of the country, says the Chief Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. Mr. Modi called Gujarat as the global hub after he signed the SSA (State Support Agreement) with the Maruti Suzuki that allows the company to the open a manufacturing facility here. Mr. Modi mentioned that the journey of Gujarat being the automobile hub started with the Tata Nano, Ford and Peugeot and now with Maruti being the new entrant is sure to strengthen Gujarat as a brand that is globally preferred as a business location.
In the backward taluka of Mandal-Becharaji of the Ahemdabad district, two units in two phases are expected to be developed by Maruti Suzuki. Out of two units, the first one (1st phase) will be built near Becharaji, which is a historical town and the second unit (2nd phase) will be built at a place about 25 kms away from Becharaji. According to Mr. Modi, 27 percent of the GSDP of Gujarat is contributed by the manufacturing and engineering sector; the same sector contributes 9 percent of the overall national engineering output. Mr. Modi also added that at present more than 30 engineering clusters are present in the state and more clusters are coming up like Sanand- Viramgam, Mandal-Becharaji, Halol-Savli, Anjar, Santhalpur which will help Gujarat emerge as a global hub on the whole. This statement of Gujarat emerging as the best automobile market is also re-iterated by the Managing Director, Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi of Maruti Suzuki India. Together, Maruti India and Gujarat state government are going to set up a state-of-the-art institute for the research work of automobile sector
