With the Honda Brio AT launch out of the way, India is expecting the Honda Brio sedan, codenamed 2TP, to come out sometime in early 2013. Now we have some fresh pictures for our readers from the Brio sedan testing in Thailand where Honda invited media persons to take a look at the vehicle. We’ve received plenty of information some new, some old about the sedan to share with our readers.

The Brio sedan is set for an official launch in Thailand in the next month after which India will get its diesel version which is already under development and is said be of localised production. Now as we all know, the Brio sedan will be very similar to the hatchback in terms of dimensions with the exception of a longer wheel base and add-on rear. The wheel-base measures a total of 2407mm while the overall length is 3990mm.

The width and height remain the same as the Brio hatchback at 1,680mm and 1,485mm respectively. Now the longer wheelbase on sedan means you get more rear seat room for the passengers adding to the comfort which is expected from a sedan. The front seats do not show any changes and will remain similar in most aspects to those of the Brio hatchback. This is probably a move from Honda to save on time and cost. However we do know that Honda will be changing the dashboard and door trim shades to strike a difference between the sedan and the hatchback.

In terms of engine, Thailand will be getting the 1.2-litre 90bhp petrol mill mated to their CVT transmission in order to keep up the mileage, which by the way is an extraordinary 20.4kmpl. India however will get a 1.5-litre diesel powered Brio sedan in addition to the 1.2-litre petrol version to be offered in Thailand; so we can expect similar or better mileage values for the Brio sedan in India. For now we expect the diesel Brio sedan to deliver somewhere about 25kmpl.

Coming to the chassis and suspensions, we see that the suspensions will remain the same at the rear but will come with toughened coil springs to accommodate the add-on rear and extended wheel-base. According to the officials at Honda the sedan weighs only 26kg more than the hatch and is a mere 0.1 seconds slower at hitting the 100kmph mark. Take a look at the Honda Brio sedan pictures and enjoy. Cheers!
