If media reports are to be believed, Honda will launch the third-generation of its premium hatch Jazz on 8th July, 2015. We earlier reported that the automaker has started teasing the premium hatch and will launch the car in second week of July. But now people familiar with the matter told a leading tabloid that the car will be launched on 8th July.
When launched, Honda Jazz will lock horns with Hyundai’s latest sensation Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto Evo and to some extent, will affect Maruti Suzuki Swift. Earlier in 2013, the automaker stopped the production of Jazz because of the dropping sales. But it seems like Honda has learnt from its past mistakes as this time Jazz will also be launched with 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine.
Based on City’s platform, the hatch shares most of its styling cues from premium sedan both inside-out. The front fascia is pretty much similar to City while dashboard will feature touch screen navigation unit of the sedan. Under the hood, as aforementioned, the hatch will be offered with both the fuel trims. The petrol model will house the 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine while the diesel gets 1.5-litre i-DTEC mill. Furthemore, Jazz will be available with two transmission options - 5-speed manual and automatic (most likely City’s CVT). The automatic transmission will only be available with petrol trim.
The 1.5-liter i-DTEC turbo diesel gives an output of 99 bhp and 200 Nm peak torque while the petrol model will produce 87 bhp and 109 Nm of torque.
