Hyundai begins working on a sub compact SUV to rival Duster and EcoSport

Looks like sub compact SUVs are the new ‘in’ thing these days. First, it was Renault who is preparing to launch Duster then, Ford came in with EcoSport. Now, rumor has it that India’s second largest car maker has begun working on a new sub compact SUV, which will give a direct competition to Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. Apparently, Hyundai has given the complete responsibility of developing and designing this brand new SUV to its Brazilian Unit.

This new sub compact SUV by Hyundai is said to have its foundation on new light car sized B platform. This new B Platform will also aid a five door hatchback car from Hyundai, called HB. Then further on, this platform will be integrated into a four door sedan followed by new sub compact SUV. This new sub compact SUV is said to be positioned just below Hyundai Santa Fe. The Indian launch of this new SUV is not yet confirmed, but it will first hit the Brazilian market and would then be exported to Latin America.

Hyundai will initially introduce this new sub compact SUV in Brazil initially. But the company will make certain that it is constructed matching the global high standards. The SUV will be packed out with all kinds of safety requirements and will sport all comfort and high class technical features. Hyundai Motors have already dropped so many hints by new SUV concepts that point out to the new SUV. At 2009 Geneva Motor Show, the firm showcased its sub compact SUV design concept called ix-onic concept.

On the other hand, Hyundai Motors have made it crystal clear that this new sub compact SUV will initially hit the Brazilian market. However, one could expect this SUV to arrive in the Indian market very soon as the SUV market in India is flourishing day by day now. Hyundai is quite determined to become the top most car manufacturer in the country and by launching wide variety of products will help it to reach its goal very soon.
