Hyundai EON to be exported next year

Hyundai EON the very popular car, recently launched in India, will be exported to overseas market from next year. Launched on 13th of this month, Hyundai EON has grabbed eye-balls and clocked domestic bookings around 13,000 units. Hyundai India also has planned to showcase a new small car model developed on the "fluidic" platform during the next year's Auto Expo in Delhi. The company also denied on the buzz of Hyundai Santro phasing out.

Hyundai India MD and CEO launched the EON in Tamil Nadu where he commented upon its exports plants. Hyundai India exports its cars manufactured at its facility to over 115 countries. Unveiling the car in TN, H W Park said that since its launch on October 13, the company has got 'encouraging' bookings equaling 5,000 units for Hyundai EON besides targeting the overseas market next year. The hatch is being manufactured at the facility in Sriperumbudur near Chennai and exports to foreign markets like South Africa and South America will take place by next year.

Park also said that the company planned to ramp up the capacity of their plant from 6.3 lakh units per annum to 6.7 lakh by next year that would require "minimal" investments. He said the company was analyzing the market for manufacturing diesel engines at the facility. According to Park, the new car which is going to be revealed next year in Jan is one among the 10 new models planned to be introduced in the span of four years. He also opined that Hyundai Santro is one of the best models in India clocking around 5,000 to 7,000 units every month and company has no plans to phase it out.
