Hyundai February Sales show 4.8 percent dip

The India’s biggest auto ex[porter, Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL), has disclosed the February sales of the company and at a sad note a drop of 4.8 per cent is observed during this period. As per the company’s disclosure, a total sale of 52,007 units were posted for the month of Feb 2011 which is a straight low swing of 4.8% compared to 54,610 units sold in the last year during same period.
But if the company’s performance in the domestic market is concerned than a hike is registered by the company of 5.3 per cent. Hyundai Motors India Limited sold a total of 32,629 units in the domestic market and the same period last year the company sold just 31,001 units hence we see that the domestic market was strong for the company this year.
Coming to the strongest part of the company, the exports, HMIL posted a drop of 17.9 percent during Feb 2011. Among the export quota, the company dispatched 19,378 units in the month of Feb 2011 which is a drop from 23,609 units exported in last year to the overseas markets.
Addressing the Feb 2011 sales figure, Mr. Arvind Saxena who is the director of marketing and sales in Hyundai Motors India Limited commented that the company has done well in the sales of its compact cars and further they expect that the industry growth rate will stabilize in coming months.
The company’s star segment was that of the compact cars which majorly encircles Hyundai Santro, Hyundai i10, and Hyundai i20. All together 47,167 units were sold in this segment whereas the company’s A3 segment which includes Hyundai Accent and Hyundai Verna as sale of 4,685 units was achieved in this month. A total of 29 units of Hyundai Sonata Transform and 126 of Hyundai Santa Fe were also sold.
