Hyundai plans diesel engine plant in Gujarat

Recently from the Hyundai Motor pavilion we got the news that the company will be investing a good amount of Rs 400 crore to set up a diesel manufacturing unit on Indian grounds. And now a piece of news says that Japanese major is looking forward to establish this high investment plant in Gujarat. Few reports even claim that the company officials have checked a desirable plant site at Dholera near Ahmedabad.

As per the report, the Hyundai Motors delegation had a visit to Dohlera ten days back and the site was suggested by their new plant department. For now no finalised statement is made by the delegation but they have certainly shown interest in the Gujarat site. Soon the delegation will be coming up with a detailed report with personal suggestion on this site and the final decision will be in hands of the company board. Moreover the report also says that the company might look forward for some other state if the site gives lucrative returns.  
 
Dholera in Gujarat is SIR (Special Investment Region) which covers an area of 80,000 hectares and lies between the DMIC (Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridore). The area has an additional advantage as the government of Gujarat has decided to construct an international airport just 90 Kms from the location. Hyundai Motors declared the diesel engine plant in India recently which will have the capacity of 1.5 lakh units per annum and will come in operation from 2013 to 2014. for now the diesel engines for Hyundai Motors were imported from other countries but now with the introduction of this high investment plant, the company will increase its self dependent ratio. The two plants of this company are situated in  Sriperumbdur, Tamil Nadu which will further get upgraded for increased production capacity by next year. For Hyundai i10 and Hyundai Verna, the diesel engines are imported from Korea, but now with this upcoming plant the company will no more have to strive on imports for its models.
