Hyundai’s flagship model Santro touches 5 Lakh Exports Milestone

The country’s largest exporter and second largest car manufacturer Hyundai Motors revealed that the its flagship model Santro has posted exports of more than 5 lakh units from the country.
The car that created a hysteris ever since its launch in the Indian market is now exported in more than 80 countries in across the globe.Speaking on the achievement H W Park, MD & CEO, HMIL, said, that it is great honor to annouce that the export figure of this wonderful car hastouched the mark of 5 lakh units.

In 1999, HMIL started exporting cars, where it use to ship a batch of 20 Santros to Nepal. In 2004 the company reached a remakble number of 100,000 cars, which further incraesed to 200,00cars in 2005. It did not stop here,the number of cars being exportet kept on incraesing year by year, in 2006 the company exported 300,000th car and 400,000th car in 2006 and 2007 respectively. In 2008, the compnay achieved the milestone by exporting 500,000 Hyundai Santro cars, making Hyundai the fastest passenger car manufacturer. Hyundai accounts for 57% of the total export of passenger cars from India.

Not only this but Hyundai Motor Company’s global export hub for compact cars, HMIL is the first automotive company in India to achieve the export of 10 lakh cars in just 10 years. Hyundai exports cars in more than 115 countries in EU, Africa, Middle East, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. Hyundai has managed to bag the number one exporter of passenger car of the country for the sixth year in a row. HMIL accounts 40% of its total production to exports from India. The company currently exports the Hyundai Santro, i10, i20 and the Accent models.
