Mahindra aims to tighten its grip on the Indian MPV market

Mahindra and Mahindra, India’s largest utility vehicle manufacturer is mulling to develop a new MPV ( multipurpose vehicle based on its small truck, Maxximo.Mahindra is currently testing the vehicle at the Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai. But still there are no details revealed by the automaker about the launch date of the vehicle.Currently, Mahindra is running tests at the Mahindra Research Valley in the outskirts of Chennai. However the company has not revealed the launch date of the new MPV. As per say, developing an MPV on the small truck platform needs a lot of changes in areas like power and transmission. Maxximo from the stables of Mahindra is the most technologically strong mini truck running on Indian streets and its trim includes a mini truck and a minivan.
Mahindra is also looking forward to drive in a passenger van based on the same platform. The passenger van is likely to be prepared soon and is expected to drive in this financial year. The auto majors in India all leaving no stone unturned in order to attract the MPV buying consumers. The leading MPV makers in the country are Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata Motors, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and the latest entrant in the segment is Maruti with its newly launched MPV Maruti Ertiga. General Motors is also eyeing to bring in MPV Enjoy and Nissan- Ashok Leyland JV is going to roll out Evalia by the end of the year.
