Mahindra Renault to revamp Logan

Due to a sharp slowdown in sales terms, Mahindra-Renault is mulling to revamp its single product Logan. Mahindra-Renault, present here via a joint venture with Mahindra, is believed to upgrade the model. Apart from the makeover, both the partners will invest more for the company's health. At present, 500 units of Logan is being sold every month. On the other hand, the product's sales dipped 1200 units till the first month of the current year. Sources said that the French car maker, Mahindra-Renault, would like to facelift the Logan and upgrade the product for new emission norms which is to come into force in 2010.However, chiefs of both the companies reported as saying that they were serious about their partnership. They agreed that investment in the venture was low as against at the starting. Keshub Mahindra, M&M chairman, confirmed that the JV was registering losses. In the FY 2008-09, the company's net loss totalled Rs 490 crore as compared to Rs 42.64 in the previous FY.
