As confirmed by a Mahindra service center, TUV300 with automatic transmission is being recalled. The recall is being done in a very silent manner as no official statement has been issued by the company. Customers owning a TUV300 are being called personally by dealerships to get their vehicles fixed. The issue, as described by customers, is that the vehicle jerks while shifting gears along with the engine automatically revving to 4,000rpm before a shift takes place. Creep function of the car would come in play around 30 seconds later after braking and rpm drop while shifting from 4th to 5th gear. This problem requires an ECU software update which is being done for free by the Indian ‘SUV’ maker.
TUV300 is powered by a new 1.5-litre three-cylinder mHawk80 diesel engine which delivers a maximum power of 84bhp and 230Nm of torque. It comes mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or an AMT gearbox. TUV 300 offers front airbags and ABS with EBD in all of its variants, excluding the base T4 model. TUV300 also offers features like advance infotainment system that offers 2-DIN Audio system with Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity. ECO mode comes as standard and Micro-Hybrid technology is available in the T8 variant.
Popularity of AMT variant of the TUV300 has always been high. In November 2015, according to the Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra, around 50% of the bookings received were for the automatic variants. Looking at the success of this AMT, Mahindra also introduced an automatic variant for its popular XUV500. Within two months of the launch, TUV300 compact SUV registered 12,000 bookings. This led to an increase in the waiting period of the car. Production rate was, thus, increased to 5,000 units per month and this was to be maintained till exports commenced.
