Maruti Brezza Overtook Tata Nexon And Kia Sonet To Be The Best Selling Sub-4m SUV In February 2024

Only two SUVs here witnessed a growth in their month-on-month (MoM) sales numbers
The sub-4m SUV segment has seven key members including the crowd favourites such as the Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza. While the Nexon dominated the segment’s sales chart in the last couple of months, February 2024 witnessed the Maruti SUV regain the top spot. The segment, overall, witnessed sales of over 55,000 units but it was down by more than 12.5 percent compared to January 2024.

While the Kia Sonet’s February 2024 sales beat its average 6-month sales figures, the SUV witnessed a drop in its MoM number by more than 21 percent. Even its year-on-year (YoY) market share decreased by around 1 percent.

The Hyundai Venue was close on the heels of the Sonet as it registered total sales of nearly 9,000 units. Its market share stood close to 16 percent in February 2024. Note that the Venue’s sales figures also include the sales data of the Hyundai Venue N Line.

Although the Mahindra XUV300 managed to cross the 4,000-unit sales mark, it failed to go beyond its average 6-month sales figure. Its market share stood at 7.5 percent.

The combined sales of the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger didn’t manage to go beyond the 4,000-unit sales mark, putting both the SUVs behind the XUV300. That said, the Kiger was the only other SUV (after the Brezza here) to witness a positive MoM growth of nearly 40 percent.
