Maruti management to reinstate 5 dismissed workers, strike continues

On-strike workers at Maruti's Manesar facility are now getting positive response with each passing day. Reports suggest that after accepting demands of new worker’s union, Maruti Suzuki management further also agreed to reinstate five of the eleven workers who were dismissed on June 6.
On June 12 management of Maruti India stepped further towards resolving the issue by agreeing to cancel the suspension of five workers who were dismissed earlier. But General Secretary, Maruti Suzuki Employees Union (MSEU), Shiv Kumar said that strike will be called off only when all the dismissed employees will be reinstated by the Maruti management.
It is worth mentioning that India’s largest car maker company has suffered a mammoth loss in production of 9,000 cars so far, which in turn yielded to a revenue loss of Rs. 450 crore. Earlier, with an aim to resolve the on-going strike, a meeting was organized by Haryana labor minister SC Sharma along with the Maruti India officials and workers' representative, but no positive response was received till late.Furthermore, Maruti India declined to make any statement on the ongoing scenarios but said that company is working towards resolving the issue. A Senior Maruti executive said that Company is considering the demands of work in an amiable manner and the whole problem will be resolved soon.
Also, to show solidarity towards the Maruti Suzuki on-strike workers, the workers union in the neighboring automobile factories like Hero Honda's Daruhera plant, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), Rico Auto , Endurance Auto and Satyam Auto will be conducting a two-hour tool down token strike on Tuesday morning.General secretary, HMSI workers union, Harjeet Grover said that they are prepared to show solidarity towards the Maruti on-strike workers problems by taking part in proposed tool-down protest on Tuesday. Further he commented that their further course of action will depend on the success of token strike will.
