The new Crossover is likely to be offered in a choice of six and eight cylinder gasoline engines for the US, and an AMG model will also be launched at the top of the range. According to some auto experts, the reason behind the development of this new crossover is the low costs of engineering and the high profit margins. Moreover, the crossover are more in demand in countries like US, Europe, China and others, while other vehicle types tend to suit the limited regions.
Meanwhile, Mercedes Benz is busy in promoting its all-new GLA Class, which will target the mass segment. The car will compete against the likes of Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Volvo V40 Cross Country. The GLA crossover will make its way to the Indian car market by the early 2014. The BMW X6 crossover rival is expected to come into existence by 2016, and could also make its way to India.
