Mini Unveils 2015 Mini Cooper Countryman

Just before the 2014 New York Motor Show, Mini unveils the 2015 Mini Cooper Countryman. The facelifted crossover is scheduled to made world preview at the upcoming Motor Show day after tomorrow. Countryman is Mini's first crossover and the only product with four doors and indeed it is the only product in Mini Indian line-up that is produced locally at the BMW India plant (Countryman D is produced). The car is expected to go on sale in the mid of 2014, as the countryman is on sale in India expect the updated car to land on the India shore sometime later this year.

The changes in the 2015 Mini Countryman

Exterior

• The car boosts revised grille, tweaked headlamp cluster with daytime-running-LEDs (15 LED rings), LED fog lamps and subtle changes to tail lamp.
• Daytime-running LEDs are standard on new Countryman.
• The vehicle now comes in newer shades Jungle Green metallic, Midnight Grey metallic and Starlight Blue metallic for the first time.
• The vehicle rides on new 17-inch 5-Star Triangle Spoke Design alloys which are lighter than the current one.
• The updated car boosts contrasting paint finish for the roof; the wing mirror caps is available in white or black on request. A contrasting paint finish in red is available specially for the new MINI John Cooper Works Countryman (John Cooper Works editions are available in India, the company showcased it at the 2014 Auto Expo in Noida).
• Piano black finish is available as an option instead of chrome appliqué (we doubt that this option would be available for India as people here love chrome).

Interior

• The new Countryman offers new acoustic deadening enhancement for more quite and plusher ride.
• All the variants of the facelifted Countryman offers MINI John Cooper Works inspired instrumentation dial - anthracite-colored dials for the tachometer and speedometer.
• The base variant of the new Countryman boosts chromed retro styled switchgear as standard.
• Tire pressure monitoring system is now standard in all the variants of the Mini Cooper Countryman.
• New MINI Connected in-car infotainment system with an optional Harman Kardon hi-end speaker system.

Engine

• The Countryman D carries the similar powerplant from the current model, 1.6 liter 4-cylinder turbo charged unit developing 110bhp and 270Nm of max torque.
• The Countryman S variants get an up-rated 1.6 liter 4-cylinder turbo petrol motor churning out 190bhp and 260Nm of max torque.
• The Countryman One gets the same powerplant, 1.6 liter 4-cylinder naturally aspirated 96bhp and 153Nm of peak torque.
