Fiat, the Italian Automobile manufacturer is to come up with a new and exclusive version of its existing star hatchback model, Fiat Palio. If the speculations are to be believed, the new avatar of people's favourite Fiat Palio will enter the domestic version with a new name.

As per the industry sources, the upgraded version of Fiat Palio will come in both diesel and petrol versions. The beautiful hatchback will come loaded with a 1.3 Litre multi jet diesel engine and 1.0 Litre petrol engine. The exciting hatchback from the company was released in 13 major cities around India where the BS-IV emission norms were implemented. The major reason was that the company didn't want to switch to upgraded norms.

The Fiat Palio version based on BS-III standards is also available for sale in other cities. As per the industry sources, the upgraded version of Fiat Palio will be positioned below Fiat Grande Punto which is the company's premium hatchback. The product will thus be tagged at Rs. 4 Lakh and will gun popular segment players such as Chevrolet Beat and Maruti Wagon R in Indian Auto market.

As per the statements made by Mr. Ravi Bhatia who is the Vice President (commercial), the company is on the evolution phase and he also admitted the fact that market is filled with speculations about this upcoming model. The statement was made a diplomatic one by disclosing selected information.

At present, Fiat is working in collaboration with Tata Motors in the Indian Auto market on which it depends for sales & service network for its Fiat cars. The company was recently heard to be working on new strategies for Indian Auto market to pick up the drowning sales graph. The company was working for new marketing techniques and stronger car brand image and also increase on the sales and service network in India. Depending on Tata Motor for selling and servicing the cars has not given the company the response it actually deserves.

I own a Fiat-Sienna(Diesel) bought in 2000. It is a great machine and works with me perfectly well.I always recommend Fiat to those referring to me. The main grouse I have with FIAT India is that they have not really cared for Indian road conditions. All FIAT vehicles hit at the bottom/front bumper even on small unevenness of the road. I here from mechanics that this prevail even on Punto/Lenia. Why don't FIAT India take a cue from Maruti?

Palio Car is very good but when we take the car to the workshop its very expensive on spares and labour cost. Maruti is far better on maintenance cost but axle is a headache. Fiat quality is better compared to others. The costing of all cars is expensive duty 104% custom duties and that is discouraging to buy a new car. Second hand buyer like me would go for 1 year old model then minus all taxes and consider depreciation only on the ex showroom price!!!

It is a good news that Fiat is again coming with new PALIO. It is a welcome feature; however, the Fiat company should first come forward to make available all the spares for PALIO at affordable price and at all parts of India. Customers expect only after sales service to be cordial and perfect. Anyhow, I wish all the very best to FIAT India.
