Nissan India has plans to bring in a new small car in the Indian Market. The new small car by Nissan will be placed below Nissan Micra and is expected to be in the price range of Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4 lakh. Recently, the auto maker has unveiled Nissan Sunny, a new sedan in Mumbai. With Nissan Micra already in and a plan to bring small car on the cards, Nissan will complement two of the most popular car segments in India. Nissan India also has aimed high to reach a landmark figure of 40,000 car sales per year by FY 12. This new small car will compete with Maruti Alto, Chevrolet Spark and the Hyundai Santro primarily.

Reports reveal that the Managing Director and CEO of Nissan India, Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Nissan India has expressed thoughts that Nissan India may get into the small car segment as they find this venture very profitable and small cars has high popularity and high demand in Indian auto market. This car will be priced less than hatchback Nissan Micra. Nissan Micra hatchback that was launched last year scored good sale figures since then. Thus, a better sales figure is expected with the new small car too.

The Nissan small car with such a low price may give a good competition to the currently available small cars such as Maruti Alto, Chevrolet Spark and the Hyundai Santro. The low price range of the Nissan small car has been thought to be kept so, to make it comparatively low in cost than the other cars and by doing so, Nissan will definitely draw a huge crowd of buyers.

Nissan India may make its fifth launch in India with its new sedan Nissan Sunny in this year end and yesterday in an event in Mumbai, they displayed Nissan Sunny sedan. Nissan India is also to enter into collaboration with Ashok Leyland to bring a new model of MPV which may have a tough market conflict with the Toyota Innova.Nissan also has the cars such as Nissan X-Trail SUV, Nissan Teana sedan and the Nissan 370Z sports car in India. Out of these only Nissan Micra hatchback is built at a plant in Chennai which is shared with Renault.
