Premier Rio SUV to adorn CRDI engine

Premier India is all geared up to upgrade its compact SUV Premier Rio soon. As per initial reports, the new Premier Rio Mini SUV will be powered by a CRDI engine. Currently, the India’s first diesel powered compact SUV has a 1.5L, 1489cc, Turbo Diesel engine. Premier Rio price in India ranges between Rs 5.61 lakh to Rs 6.33 lakh and it is available in three variants viz. Premier Rio EX, Premier Rio LX and Premier Rio DX. As per reports, Premier Rio Mini SUV with a CRDI engine is expected to be launched soon probably during the festive season and a negligible price rise is expected.

Recently there were infrequent reports regarding Premier thinking of changes in its second car Rio. Reports suggest that Rio will adorn the 1.3L multijet Fiat engine. Equally there are speculations that Premier Rio will also have petrol trim coming soon. However, introducing a petrol variant when everybody is after diesel cars in India is quite surprising. Experts believe that the reason behind introducing petrol driven Premier Rio is to make available Rio at a price tag which will be around Rs 70,000 to Rs 1 lakh less than the existing diesel driven Premier Rio. This will encompass those car buyers in India who have limited running per month.

The existing Premier Rio reviews are quite inspiring and auto experts and car users in India have appreciated the Premier SUV in India primarily due to its price and compact nature. However, some Premier Rio reviews point at the high maintenance cost of the SUV. Initially, the Premier Rio CRDI diesel engine version and petrol car were expected to arrive in June and August 2011 but it got delayed and it is expected that both the new Premier Rio avatars will debut during Diwali. The new CRDI engine in Rio will step up its performance as well its fuel economy.
