A Couple of days back, we reported that the Japanese carmaker Nissan has recalled a total 22,188 units of Nissan Sunny and Micra to replace the brake master cylinder. Now its partner Renault too has issued a recall for 7,016 units of Scala Sedan and Pulse for the same reason. Both the Scala and Pulse too are produced at the company's Orgadam plant in Chennai. Renault India has started dispatching notices to the affected customers, the replacement exercise will start from next week and would be done free of cost.
Renault India has recalled a total 2,836 units of Pulse hatchback and 4,180 units of the Scala sedan. The company said that it's a voluntary recall exercise to maintain high level of customer service and safety. However, there are no incidents happened due to component failures, but there is a possibly that the customers may experience longer brake pedal travel while braking, says the company.
Speaking about the same, a senior executive of the company said, "The company has taken a pro-active measure and plans to begin notifying individual customers directly. The Renault dealers will replace the master brake cylinder at no cost to the customer. The change should take not more than 40 minutes to change the faulty part like the brake cylinder and its fluid."
