Renault’s ‘Safety and Mobility for all’ program an initiative that promotes road safety has been well received by audiences across the globe and is in line with the United Nations campaign to bring down road accidents to half by 2020. This year Renault has included an educational section in the program aimed at children between the age group of seven to twelve years. The game involves role playing and can be played at home, in a classroom or even with family.
The role playing exercises aim at teaching children to travel safely along with an introduction to the driving code which includes recognizing shapes, colours and signs; getting an understanding of traffic directions, lane safety also taking into account weather conditions.
Schools are also actively promoting this campaign via a big transport contest where the participants are required to organize daily trips from home to school and back, occasional trips in small groups, and special trips with large groups which could also include the annual school trip.
Through the ‘Safety and Mobility for all’ program players also get to learn the different aspects of mobility such as car pooling, electric vehicles, renewable energies and recycling of materials.
For the year 2013-2014, a ‘Your ideas, your initiatives’ contest was included in the program where students from 23 countries submitted their projects. Winners were chosen from three countries – India, Brazil and Bulgaria and were awarded iPads and digital cameras along with resources to carry out their initiatives for safety and mobility.
The ‘Safety and Mobility for all’ game is available for PCs, MAC and also on androids and iOS apps.
Along with launching this new initiative Renault also announced a one percent price hike for its product portfolio starting 1st July 2014. The reason for the price hike is cited as swelling input costs that have further aggravated the cost of components. The price hike will affect the Duster, Scala and the Pulse.
