Renault to bring new cars by 2013

Renault, the French car giant is extensively planning to enhance its portfolio by introducing two new car models by 2011 in the domestic auto market. The two new cars are Renault Koloes and Renault Fluence on the auto company's international lines.
An executive from the company was quoted saying that the auto company is rapidly working for launching the new car models in the Indian auto market. Renault Fluence the premium saloon will be entering in May, 2011 and later Renault Koloes the super savvy 4x4 crossover by October 2011. Other than this Renault has big plans to introduce an array of cars by 2013 from the auto company's global portfolio. It is expected that three new cars will be entering which will include a hatchback.
The new sedan Renault Fluence is the car maker first solo attempt pitting against the already established Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Skoda Laura and Chevrolet Cruze. These premium sedan come in the price band of Rs 11 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
As per the sources, Renault will price the sedan around Rs 12 lakh for the low end variant and will offer it in petrol and diesel version. It is being learnt that the petrol engine will be coming in two versions 1.6 16 V 110 hp and 2.0 16V 140 hp. However the diesel car model would come in five versions with 1.5 litres engine.
The company will be more specific about the model at the time of launch but as per the speculations the sedan will be in production from March. The crossover Renault Koleos will compete against Honda CR-V, Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai Santa Fe, all priced above Rs 20,95,000. The crossover from Renault the five seator is speculated to come with a price tag of Rs 20 lakh. Renault is expected to bring in its hatchback in 2012 which will be pitched against the popular Hyundai i10.
Renault in India was in partnership with Mahindra & Mahindra which was called off recently in April 2010 and now will be entering the domestic auto market on its own. The French auto giant has set up its manufacturing unit with equal partnership with Nissan in Chennai with an investment of Rs 4,500 crore. The company will enhance its dealership network by opening as many as 70 outlets before the launch of cars in 2011 and by 2013 it plans to spread in Tier I and Tier- II cities. The French auto manufacturer will be rendering its support to M&M through licence agreement, giving key components such as transmission and engine.
