Skoda contemplates Sub 10 Lakh SUV for India

Skoda has recently given green signal to the news of launch of its new mini SUV in the country. The expected price of this new SUV will be approximately Rs. 10 Lakh. It will certainly give a very hard-hitting competition to Tata Safari and Mahindra Scorpio. This could even give a strong challenge to Renault Duster and Mahindra Mini Xylo. Till now, Skoda doesn’t have any hardcore mini SUV; however, it does have a closer model, called Skoda Fabia Scout. This car was spotted while it was going through the test procedure.

Skoda is a very big name in the Indian Auto market. With the launch news of Skoda Sub SUV, Skoda is also planning to launch two new cars in the interminably growing Indian auto market, one is the Skoda Rapid and the other one is the retouched version of Skoda Fabia. According to the marketing and sales head, Thomas Kuehl, this Czech car manufacturer is all geared up to introduce the Skoda sub-Fabia between the price range of Rs. 3 Lakh to Rs. 5 Lakh. It is expected to hit the Indian roads by the year of 2013.

Apparently, reports also suggest that Skoda India also confirmed the news that this car will be launched in 2 versions, petrol and diesel. Nonetheless, it is being said that main car parts will be manufactured in India itself. With meeting the latest rules and regulation of the firm, the company has plans to produce about 70% of the parts in the Chakan Plant of Volkswagen. Here parts of Skoda Fabia and Volkswagen Vento and Polo are manufactured.
