Tata Motors Grows by 12% in August

Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in August 2012 were 71,826 vehicles, higher by 12%, over August 2011. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for August 2012 were 67,453 nos., higher by 13%, over 59,874 nos., sold in August last year. Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal are 334,125 nos., higher by 4%, over 320,878 nos., sold last year.
Commercial Vehicles
The company’s sales of commercial vehicles in August 2012 in the domestic market were 45,142 nos., a 5% growth, compared to 43,045 vehicles, sold in August last year. LCV sales were 30,461 nos., a growth of 16%, compared to 26,344 vehicles sold in August, last year. M&HCV sales stood at 14,681 nos., lower by 12%, compared to 16,701 vehicles sold in August, last year. Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 202,827 nos., a growth of 3% over last year. Cumulative LCV sales are 140,417 nos., a growth of 18% over last year, while M&HCV sales stood at 62,410 nos., lower by 20%, over last year.
Passenger Vehicles
Sales of passenger vehicles for August 2012 are at 22,311 nos., higher by 33%, over 16,829 nos., sold in August last year. Sales of the Tata Nano were 6,507 nos., higher by 441%, compared to 1,202 nos., sold in August, last year. The Indica range sales were 7,591 nos., higher by 5%, over 7,206 nos., sold in August, last year. The Indigo range recorded sales of 3,629 nos., lower by 29%, over 5,100 nos., sold in August, last year. The Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture range sales were 4,584 nos., higher by 38%, over 3,321 nos., sold in August 2011.
Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles were 108,990 nos., higher by 10%, compared to 99,129 nos., sold till August last year. Cumulative sales of the Nano is at 34,132 nos., higher by 29%, over 26,441 nos., sold till August last year. Cumulative sales of the Indica range is at 34,155 nos., higher by 10%, over last year. Cumulative sales of the Indigo family are 20,169 nos., lower by 17%, over last year. Cumulative sales of the Sumo/Safari/ Aria/ Venture range are 20,534 nos., higher by 19%, over last year. Jaguar Land Rover sales in India continued their upward trend.
Exports
The company's sales from exports at 4,373 vehicles in August 2012 are higher by 4%, compared to 4,204 vehicles, in August last year. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal are 22,308 nos., lower by 10%, over 24,861 nos., sold in the same period last year.
