Tata Motors Reports 33 per cent decline in Feb 2013 Sales

The Indian auto major Tata Motors which is going through a not-so-favorable phase, has reported a decline of 32.70 per cent in total vehicle sales at 61,988 units for Feb 2013. The company had sold 92,119 units in the same month 2012, informs Tata Motors. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for February 2013 were 58,002 nos. Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal were 736,454 nos.
Commercial Vehicles
The company’s sales of commercial vehicles in February 2013 in the domestic market were 47,389 nos. LCV sales were 36,760 nos., while M&HCV sales stood at 10,629 nos.
Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were 480,330 nos. Cumulative LCV sales were 351,801 nos., while M&HCV sales stood at 128,529 nos.
In February, Tata Motors' Jamshedpur plant rolled out its two millionth truck. The company bagged an order for its fully indigenous Tata 6x6 multi-axle high mobility mobile platforms, from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
Tata Motors will be launching two new exciting applications for intercity transportation and staff transportation in the MCV bus segment - the Front Engine Luxury AC Intercity Coach- 45-Seater and Luxury Staff Bus, in a phased manner shortly.
Passenger Vehicles
Sales of passenger vehicles for February 2013 were at 10,613 nos. Sales of the Nano/ Indica/ Indigo range in February 2013 were 7,769 nos. The Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture range sales were 2,844 nos. During the month, Tata Motors claimed a sweeping win in India's first-ever National TSD (Time-Speed-Distance) Rally Championship - FMSCI-JK Tyre Indian National TSD rally. The Tata Indigo eCS set a new endurance record and entered the Limca Book of Records with a remarkable feat of a non-stop nation-wide mileage run; touching all four gateways - from Koteshwar in West to Kibithu in East, from Kashmir in the North to Kanyakumari in the South, crossing 19 states and union territories, covering 14,000 kms in just 15 days.
Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles were 208,845 nos. Cumulative sales of the Nano/ Indica/ Indigo range were at 165,789 nos. Cumulative sales of the Sumo/Safari/ Aria/ Venture range were 43,056 nos.
Exports
The company's sales from exports are 3,996 vehicles in February 2013. Cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal were 47,279 nos.
