Tata Nano flames yet again

According to a report from Anand district in Gujarat, a Tata Nano caught fire on Saturday. The compact car, which was registered under the name of Ms Hafsa Mohd Iqbal Kathadi, but driven by her husband who is an employee of an insurance company; had reported the fire department of the suspected fire in the car. Hafsa’s husband was driving the car, he was accompanied with four of his friends, they observed smoke coming out of the Nano after reaching Krishna road. As per the Fire Brigade officials, the group then parked the vehicle along the roadside and got down of the vehicle.

Tata Nano, is reported to have faced a major dip in sales of 85% in the month of August, this year. To boost up the Tata Nano sales, the auto major had offered their small car to the employees within the organization and also gave a discount of Rs 25,000 to its employees. Not only this but the car also sported Ratan Tata’s autograph embossed on the car’s dashboard. Tata Motors had recorded overall low sales of 2.84%.

While the passenger car segment of Tata Motors registered 33.25% slide, the SUV segment marked a growth of 15% that comprises of Tata Sumo, Tata Safari and Tata Aria sales. Tata Motors had recently launched Tata Indica Vista face-lift, next up on the cards is the launch of Tata Safari Merlin SUV that is expected to take place this month.

This will affect the sales further. I myself own a nano and i have never encountered any issues apart from a little trouble here and there. Thats normal. There are recalls for faulty parts that happen regularly in all parts of the world. Hope the reputation of Indias lil wonder remains intact.
