We recently reported that Tata will be revealing the Nexon EV on December 16. The Indian carmaker has been teasing the electrified version of its sub-4m SUV for a while now. As per the teasers, it can be clearly made out that it is the pre-facelift version of the Nexon. However, latest reports suggest that the Nexon EV will be based on the facelifted Nexon. Meanwhile, the facelifted Nexon was recently spied sporting new headlamps and alloy wheels.
The Nexon EV will use Tata’s new Ziptron EV system which comes with an 8-year standard warranty for the motor as well as the battery pack. While it can be charged using a standard 15A socket, the Nexon EV supports fast-charging as well. Tata will be offering a 300V electric motor on the Nexon EV with an expected range of around 300km.
In terms of features, the Nexon EV is likely to get a digital instrument cluster similar to the one seen in the Harrier as well as the upcoming Altroz. It could relay usual EV information like battery charge and range meter. What’s more, the EV will also pack a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system like the Nexon.
The Nexon EV is expected to be priced from Rs 15 lakh when launched in the first quarter of 2020. It would be the second electric offering from Tata after the Tigor EV and the homegrown carmaker plans to launch two more EVs by the end of 2020.
