    Prices of the Tata Nexon facelift have been revealed, which start from Rs 8.10 lakh (introductory ex-showroom). It gets its most significant update till date, which takes it to the next level. With a host of premium features and more safety, the 2023 Nexon is ready to take on the stalwarts of the subcompact SUV segment. 

    Let’s see how its prices compare to that of its main direct rivals.

    Hyundai Venue

    • The Hyundai Venue has the lowest starting price, while the Maruti Brezza’s entry-level variant is the costliest. 

    • The Nexon’s top-end petrol-manual variant is costlier than all of its subcompact rivals. 

    • The Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and Mahindra XUV300 get a turbo-petrol engine, out of which the latter is the most powerful, churning out 130PS.

    Maruti Brezza

    • Maruti offers the Brezza with the largest engine here with a 1.5-litre unit but is low on performance. It is also the only one here to get the choice of a CNG option with the manual shifter.

    • With a budget of Rs 12 lakh (on-road), the Nexon and XUV300 offer the maximum variant choices.

    • While the Smart base variants of the Nexon get a 5-speed manual stick, the higher variants get a 6-speed unit.

    Kia Sonet

    • Kia offers the Sonet with the the turbo-iMT (manual without clutch pedal) combination, which is a unique feature in this segment.

    • The Nexon is the only contender among its rivals to get two automatic transmission options. The higher-end variants get a DCT while the lower variants use an AMT.

    • Hyundai and Kia offer the turbo-petrol engine with a DCT automatic only, while the Maruti is the only one here to offer a 6-speed torque converter. 

    • There are nine automatic variants available with the Nexon, while its rivals offer 2-3 variants at max. 

    • The XUV300 has the most affordable automatic variant, while the Sonet has the costliest entry-level automatic option.

    • The Brezza misses out on a diesel engine, but the Nexon and the others still get the oil burner option. 

    • The Sonet is the most affordable diesel subcompact SUV, followed by the XUV300 and Venue. It skips out on a manual transmission and only gets the iMT as standard. 

    • All of them get a 1.5-litre diesel engine with similar power and torque figures.

    • The Venue skips out on a diesel-automatic transmission, leaving the Nexon, Sonet, and XUV300 in this category.

    Mahindra XUV300

    • The most affordable diesel-automatic option is the XUV300 W6, while the Nexon’s Fearless+ S is the costliest, crossing the Rs 15 lakh mark. 

    • The Nexon and XUV300 get an AMT transmission, but the Sonet gets a better torque converter automatic transmission. 

    The Tata Nexon is now among the costliest subcompact SUVs. It packs several premium features like a large 10.25-inch touchscreen system, a proper digital driver’s display, a 360-degree camera, six airbags (standard), and a JBL sound system. The features list now matches with the modernity of its other rivals, which is a good thing for Tata. However, the Venue here has a big advantage with the presence of ADAS while offering feel-good features like a power-adjustable driver’s seat and ambient lighting.
