The Nexon EV facelift gets design changes along the lines of the updated Nexon and will go on sale on September 14
The Tata Nexon EV facelift has been revealed, just days after the debut of the regular Nexon facelift. It is the electric SUV’s first comprehensive update since its market debut in 2020. With the facelift, Tata has also rebranded it as the Nexon.ev, in line with the new brand of Tata.ev for the line of EVs. The carmaker also ditches the ‘Prime’ and ‘Max’ trims for ‘MR (mid range) and ‘LR (long range).
New Variants
Just like its ICE counterpart, the Nexon EV facelift has the same new variant names and it is available in three broad trims - Creative, Fearless and Empowered.
Futuristic Design
Tata has finally taken a bolder step to differentiate its ICE and EV cars and not just limiting the changes to closed panels and light blue accents. Besides the closed-off grille, the Nexon EV gets fully connected LED DRLs and a different air dam design. These DRLs also pulse to signify the electric SUV is being charged. The bumper, with the air curtains, and split headlamp styling are similar to the regular Nexon facelift.
Even the alloy wheels are kept similar to its ICE version, now with aerodynamic inserts. The connected LED tail light, a redone boot lid, and a redesigned bumper wrap up its facelifted look. Also, the new ‘Nexon.ev’ branding can be seen on the boot, and the rear wiper is now housed tucked up into the integrated roof spoiler.
A Fresh-Looking Interior
The significant visual changes continue inside the cabin as well. The entire dashboard has been redesigned with a new interior theme, slimmer AC vents, and a 2-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated ‘Tata’ logo. The climate control panel gets backlit and touch-input. Overall, it looks nearly identical to the cabin of the Nexon facelift offered with internal combustion engines (ICE).
Exclusive to the Nexon EV is a variant-specific shade for the seat upholstery and design elements over the entire cabin.
Feature Up!
The Nexon EV facelift will see the same feature additions like its ICE version, and then some. Its top variant is the first Tata model to offer a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other variants now get the same 10.25-inch touchscreen unit that was previously limited to the Nexon EV Max Dark Edition. The new infotainment systems support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and connected car technology.

Other new features include a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display with EV-specific graphics and onscreen navigation, 9-speaker JBL sound system and height adjustment for the co-driver’s seat. It was already equipped with an electric sunroof, wireless phone charger, automatic AC, cruise control, and ventilated front seats. Here too, you will find paddle shifters to adjust the regeneration modes of the electric SUV.
When it comes to sharing its charge, the 2023 Nexon.ev is V2L capable. That means you can use the battery to power a host of appliances or even another EV.
More Safety
Six airbags are now standard for all the variants of the Nexon EV facelift, along with ESC and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Other safety features include a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, automatic headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers.
Updated Powertrains
Tata continues to offer the same 30.2kWh and 40.5kWh battery packs, but with improvements to the various electronic control systems to now offer a higher range. Both the MR and LR variants are now more powerful than their pre-facelift versions’ Prime and Max.

Expected Prices And Rivals
The Tata Nexon EV facelift will go on sale on September 14, alongside the ICE version. It will command a premium over its current price range of Rs 14.49 lakh to Rs 19.54 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata’s electric SUV will continue to square up against the Mahindra XUV400 EV while acting as an affordable alternative to the likes of the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric.
