Toyota Motors has reportedly said that it will use a new biofuel by 2020, the world’s top car company, Toyota has step up and announced this development to make commercial use of biofuel, in an effort to sell hybrid engines powered by the environment-friendly fuel. For the biofuel, Toyota has already developed ethanol-producing yeast through efficient fermentation of sugar from Napier grass, an inedible tropical species of grass. Non renewable fuels like petrol and diesel are limited in earth’s core and will get depleted sooner or later.

Thus, car companies are looking at renewable energy sources and putting the best of their efforts in tapping energy from these resources like biofuel, water, solar energy and even wind. The biggest Japanese automaker plans to devise a low-cost way of producing the biofuel by 2015, in the course of achieving its practical use by 2020. However, these hybrid vehicles are not supposed to be very successful on Indian roads and are not expected to come in India in future also. But a move towards sustainable development is supported by Indians too. Presently Toyota offers 4 sedans, 3 SUVs, 1 MPV and 1 hatchback in India.
