Underwriters Laboratories recognition granted to Delphi Electric Vehicle Charge Coupler

Recently, Delphi Automotive has successfully completed its assessment for its new Electric Vehicle(EV) Charge Coupler with Cable and Charge Inlet under the Component Recognition and has been granted Underwriters Laboratories (UL) recognition under the Component Recognition Programme. With this, the recognized products would now be available for use in charging stations and vehicle side charging application in United States and Canada.

Delphi Charge Coupler will be used for stationary charging applications purposes whereas Delphi Charger Inlet will be compatible for vehicle side interface connected to charging connector to accommodate the Level 1 and Level 2 charging of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Sales of previously UL listed Portable Electric Vehicle Charger are in flow for Delphi.

The independent product safety certification organisation, Underwriters Laboratories(UL) has been objectively testing products and constituting the safety standards for more than a century. With UL approval in the kitty, Delphi Charge Coupler with Cable can now be incorporated in any charging station in North America and Delphi Charger Inlet can be assembled in electric vehicles in the spotted regions.

Randy Summer, the Director of hybrid and electric vehicle development for Delphi Packard Electrical/Electronic Architecture commented that the UL recognition for Charge Coupler and Charge Inlet was crucial. He added that UL recognition was a remarkable achievement for their EV charging components growth. He stated that Delphi components are exceptional and have customer driven styling with quality performance features which will enable them to easily establish charging stations and electric vehicles.
