Volkswagen that presented the super fuel-efficient XL1 hybrid at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, has announced its pricing for the German market. The vehicle will carry a starting price of 110,000 EUR (INR 9337009.00) in Germany. The concept of VW XL1 hybrid was first introduced at the 2011 Qatar Auto Show, and since the world has been waiting for this highly efficient vehicle.
Volkswagen XL1 has been the company's most interesting models, and is stated to be the most fuel efficient car at 110.95kmpl and only 20g/km of CO2 emission. The plug-in hybrid model gets a small two-cylinder TDI engine that develops 48bhp, which coupled to a 27bhp electric motor and a 5.5kWh lithium-ion battery.
The German car maker will develop only 200 units of the vehicle, and will also make its way to UK, where it is expected to be priced around 100,000 GBP (INR 9957490.00). The company will use the carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) to built these 200 cars and it will feature a left-hand drive configuration.
The Volkswagen XL1 will accelerate to 100kmph from stand still in just 12.7 seconds and will have an electronically limited top speed of 162kmph, while the unrestricted model will reach a top speed of 209kmph. However, the production model will feature the speed limiter to offer more fuel efficiency. Moreover, in an all-electric mode the XL1 hybrid will also be able to run up to 50km.
