German auto major Volkswagen's Indian arm, which recently stopped the production of its flagship premium hatchback Polo's top end 1.6-litre petrol variant in India, is considering to bring in the automatic version of the same car with an objective to provide more options to its customers. And who can deny that automatic transmission cars are need of the hour.
Volkswagen Polo that entered the Indian market in early 2010, hasn't received any facelift since+ then, so it's not just that the car will get an automatic transmission, it will come up with some cosmetic changes like refreshed headlamp, new alloy wheels and a few others, helping it looks sportier than before. There might be some changes inside the cabin as well, however we don't have the exact information on what interior changes it will have.
Our sources tell us that the Polo automatic transmission is likely to have the similar transmission and mechanism used in the Polo's elder sibling, the Vento's Automatic variant. So we can expect the discontinued 1.6-litre engine coming again, this time having an automatic transmission. As far as the launching of the all new VW Polo AT is concerned, our sources suggest it to happen sometime in December.
Stay tuned to CarDekho for more updates on the same. Cheers!
