Volvo Cars now Enters Gujarat, Opens Dealership in Ahemdabad

Swedish automaker Volvo which has been struggling to sell cars in the country, is now focusing on dealer network expansion, the company is entering untouched markets to grow. The company has yesterday opened a new dealership in Ahemdabad, Gujarat. The company which could manage to sell around 400 units in six months (April-Nov2012), is aiming to sell over 1500 units in the year 2013.
Showing its confidence in Gujarat, the company said in a statement,"Gujarat is an important market as it is considered to be one of the most affluent states in India.... It is also an automobile hub and hence its its imperative to make presence felt,"
The dealership is given to 'Autoboots', co-owned by Arvind and Dhaval Thakkar, who are already selling Mahindra & Mahindra in the city through Shital Motors Private Limited. Arvind Thakkar expects to sell 250 units despite the slowdown in the market. "We are targeting realtors, diamond merchants and industrialists as potential customers," said Arvind Thakkar. Volvo Cars MD, Tomas Ernber believes that the Indian luxury car market will grow at 10-15% in 2013, and the company aims to record a growth of 50% in the same period.
Volvo that sells only four cars in India currently, is now planning to launch the V40 Crossover in India by March 2013, and will also give facelift to its other two cars Volvo S60 and S80 in India.
