Jazz is making almost every comparable thing its USP, if Honda prices it right, which we are expecting Honda would, then Jazz could seriously shake the establishments!
Honda is making a comeback of the Jazz and the hatch is re-launching next month on 8th. Its technical details are out and we also drove the new Jazz. Let us roll you through what it has to offer.
Exteriors
- Honda continued with the mono-volume design with the Jazz, courtesy to it, it gets a spacious cabin and boot
- The styling is in-line with the latest Hondas, especially its sedan sibling, the City
- The front fascia is similar to that of the sedan, however, it offers black grille compared to overdose of chrome in the City
- The hatch offers chunkier taillamps in somewhat Christmas-tree-esque layout and they are LEDs!
- It rides on 175/65 R15 radials on new 5-twin spoke alloys

Interiors
- The dashboard is carried from the City with subtle nip & tuck treatment, it's all-black with silver accents
- The upholstery in lower variants is beige while the top variants get all-black cabin with black upholstery
- It offers two infotainment system options, a 5-inch non-touchscreen and a larger 6.2-inch touch screen system
- Both offers steering mounted controls and Bluetooth phone integration and reverse camera assist, however, the touchscreen one offers built-in satellite navigation and video playback
- The climate control is borrowed from the City, offering the same touch capacitive buttons
- It features best in the segment 354-liters of boot space, none of the competitors offer boot space above 300-liters and that’s compact sedan territory!
- And with the second-row tumble down, Jazz offers a whopping 881-liters of cargo volume
- The top-end all-black Jazz gets the ‘Magic Seats’ similar to the previous gen car, it features four different modes for luggage carrying versatility - Utility Mode, Long Mode, Tall Mode, and Refresh Mode
- These ‘Magic Seats’ also offer first-in-class rear seat recline, that’s really something radical in the segment!
Engines
- Jazz gets diesel for the first time and carries the 1.2-liter i-VTEC from the previous gen hatch
- The 1.5-liter i-DTEC offers segment-best fuel efficiency - ARAI certified fuel efficiency is 27.30 kmpl, and this could easily shame Celerio’s tag of 27.62 kmpl
- The 1.2-liter i-VTEC petrol gets certified fuel efficiency of 18.7 kmpl for the manual and 19 kmpl for CVT
- The 1498 cc diesel musters 100 PS @ 3600 rpm and 200 Nm @ 1750 rpm, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox
- The 1198 cc petrol produces 90 PS @ 6000 rpm and 110 Nm @ 4800 rpm, mated to a 5-speed manual or CVT automatic with paddle shifters
