Most of us are aware of the term ‘driving expedition’. For those who are novices, it refers to the opportunity of being able to drive from one location to another, which could either be city to city or state to state. However, Will on Wheels “WOW” is a unique initiative taken by the students of the Sathyabama University to create awareness on “Ability Beyond Disability” for the physically challenged ones.
The drive involves a total distance of 2700 kms to be covered in a modified Renault, which has been worked upon by the students themselves and can independently be operated by hand so as to provide convenience and self reliance to the disabled user. The project has come together on the behest of Mrs Deepa Malik, who is an Arjuna Awardee para paraplegic athlete. She has a number of accolades to her name for participation in international sporting events as well as motorsports and is their brand ambassador for this initiative. She herself would be driving an improvised Duster from Chennai all the way to New Delhi.
Like we mentioned earlier, it’s an initiative of different kind which generally does not come to the mind and now since it has been initiated French manufacturer Renault India has come to its aid by being their main sponsor. Citing this noble cause, CarDekho.com has associated itself with event as we would be bringing you live all the latest updates on this drive, which is going to commence from Chennai moving on cities like Bengaluru, Belgaum, Ahmednagar, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Jaipur before finally ending at New Delhi. Therefore, for all the latest news on ‘Will On Wheel’ stay tuned to CarDekho.com as we will be on road behind Mrs Deepa Malik in a Duster support car.
