A couple of days ago, the latest iteration of Honda Civic was spied on, in Thailand and now the car has been fully revealed in its ASEAN-spec version. The car was first unveiled in September of 2015 in North America and was followed by its coupe version. Speaking of the ASEAN-spec car, it is largely the same and has LED lightings for the front and as well as back lamps. This 10th generation Civic has the same body shell as that of the US-spec car along with similar dimensions. However, the car will be offered with new paint schemes, which as per the company's belief will do well in the region. The exteriors are marked with a coupe-ish silhouette which ends into a high-rise boot. The front gets a brawnier bonnet along with angrier headlamps, as compared to the ninth generation Civic, which is currently available in Philippines. While, some of the latest Honda cars that are launched in Philippines are either available in India, like the Mobilio, or about to get launched, like the BR-V. Still, the chances of Honda bringing the Civic nameplate back in India are bleak, at least till they figure out a diesel option for it. Much like they did for Amaze, Honda City and others. Under the hood, this version of Civic will get a naturally aspirated 1.8-litre petrol and the latest 1.5-litre turbo petrol, that is derived from the US-Spec car and is toned down to produce 170 bhp. The variants will be dubbed into 1.8 E and RS variant depending upon the engine. Power will be channeled through a manual tranny and a CVT automatic option.
The prospective owners of this vehicle will benefit from the all new interiors, which are based on Honda’s H-design philosophy. It surely gets a decent MediaNav system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moreover, the Honda dealerships in Philippines are now accepting bookings for the car, implying it's impending launch.
