The M version of the BMW 3 series has been in the pipeline for quite some time now and is expected to make its debut, early next year. The sedan has been caught once again while it was being tested in Germany. Along with the sedan, recently there have been prototypes of the coupe as well which have been spotted.
As rumors have it, the coupe and convertible will follow the sedan probably in the year 2014 and the sedan will be dropped completely. It is also being said that these 2014 vehicles will be renamed as M4. Along with the body types, there have been a lot of speculations with regards to the powertrain as well.
It seems possible that the mill will be a triple-turbo six-cylinder. It is expected that the sedan will have the standard rear-wheel drive and a power of approximate 450 bhp and a displacement of close to 3.3-litres.
It will also a feature a 7-speed M-DCT dual clutch transmission and as an alternate, 6-speed manual will also be offered. Looking at the exteriors of the camouflaged vehicle we can see the typical power bulge on the hood and the ring-shaped headlights.
BMW M3 is the high-performance version of the 3 series. It has been developed by the in-house motorsport division of BMW which is called the BMW M. The M3 and M5 have been considered as benchmarks among the sport sedans in the segment and compete with Mercedes-AMG, Audi S line and the likes.
