Recently we reported that Honda has finally phased out the premium hatch Jazz and Honda Civic sedan from the Indian auto industry, even both cars have been removed from Honda’s official website. We all know that Honda is now planning to launch a new Jazz and next-generation City in India, and the 2012 Honda Jazz will hit the production line at Honda’s factory in Saitama Prefecture in July 2013. The company might give a new name to this popular hatch, either Jazz or Fit, depending on the market where it will be launched. The car will be officially unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. In India, the new Jazz will be launched by early 2014 with diesel powertrain. The 2014 will be manufactured on a completely new platform, and the company is expected to use the similar platform to build 2014 Honda City as well.
Honda aims to expand its local footprints across all countries where 2014 Jazz will be put on sale. Additionally, the Jazz will also be tailor-made to specific nations based on their local requirements, as the next-gen Jazz will be sold around 100 nations. As a result, Honda’s development centers across the globe are working on localizing the Jazz and are also making the car according to the specific markets need. This will surely help Honda to launch 2014 Jazz faster and will help maximize the localization.
The next-gen version of the Jazz will be launched in petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric guise, based on markets. The 2014 Jazz will come in India as a diesel as well as petrol powered hatchback. More interestingly, the engine which will be used is the company’s newly developed 1.5L EarthDreams i-DTEC turbo diesel engine that Honda will debut with the upcoming Honda Amaze compact sedan. The engine is already in buzz, as claimed to offer a mileage of 25.8kmpl and power output of 98.6bhp (100PS).
Honda is known for making world class products keeping the safety, quality and convenience in mind. The car will sport a City Brake Active automatic braking system, which is specially designed to engage the brakes of the Jazz upon detecting a low speed crash situation. Honda will follow the same philosophy man-maximum-machine-minimum to manufacture 2014 Jazz.
